So I missed my post last week. I was out of town at my sister’s wedding serving as the Matron of Honor (pics below). She was such a gorgeous bride and it was a beautiful ceremony. My family and I traveled on Friday (that’s always an interesting process). We had planned to leave home at a certain time, but totally blew that by a few of hours; we arrived just in time for the wedding rehearsal. Not adhering to my schedule made me ask myself a question I actually ask myself on a daily basis, ” Where does the time go?”
Time passes by so quickly and all the things I plan on completing or the things I need to accomplish in my day just doesn’t get done. I find myself making these schedules I cannot adhere to all the time. It’s funny how I can put events on my work calendar and get through the day, but home is somehow different. Honestly, by the time I get home, I’m so mentally exhausted I really just want to crawl in bed and go to sleep (never happens though).
My day starts early. Waking the kids and getting them off to school can sometimes be the first stress of the morning. If I’m not up on time, then everyone’s schedule is off. 5:30am seems to come very quickly!
I’m working to streamline my morning and made a checklist/routine for the kids to follow. I’ll see how that goes over the next few weeks. I’ve got to figure out an afternoon/evening process as well. We are usually home by 6pm and I immediately begin dinner. I try to prepare meals that take no more than 30-45 minutes. It doesn’t happen all the time, but my goal is to have dinner by 7ish. But like I said, time goes by so quickly and when I look up, it may be 8pm before dinner’s on the table.
I’m not trying to create a rigid schedule, just plan out my day better and maybe recoup a few minutes here and there (if that’s even possible).
