Well, the first week of school is done! And it was a good week. This year I’ve got a 7th grader, 5th grader, and 3rd grader. It’s hard to believe how big they have gotten. Many people have reminded me to enjoy the younger years because you blink and they’re in high school and heading off to college.
Today was a holiday, so no school or work for us. Originally, I didn’t like that they were out of school after just one week, but honestly with all the school shopping and running around over the last week to get them prepared for the new school year, I welcomed a day off.
I’m looking forward to a good year. Last school year ended with girl “drama” for my oldest and my son’s teacher left abruptly. I want them to enjoy a better year with less issues. My prayer is that we can have a continuation of last week over the course of this school term. We’ll see!
As a mom, sometimes I wish I could keep my kids in a bubble and shield them from all of life’s hurt and harm, but I can’t. Instead, I teach them to keep encouraged, stay focused, and most importantly, to keep God first. So, as we begin a new school year, I want my kids to learn all they possibly can; retain the important points, recall what’s necessary, and never forget why they attend school….to better themselves. And because it’s the law! But seriously, I want them to understand the importance of their education.
So, happy new school year! Encourage your kids to be fearless, be fierce, go big, and be the best “them” they can be!
